Stink Bugs

The stink bug gets its name from the smell that has been likened to smelly socks, that is released when the bug is crushed. It is considered an agricultural pest, causing damage to a variety of fruits and vegetables. If gone unchecked stink bugs can cause severe agricultural problems.

Stink bugs become a nuisance both indoors and outside because they are attracted to the outside of buildings on warm fall days in search of protected, overwintering sites. It does not take them very long before you start seeing them inside hanging out around windows or doors or crawling around on your ceilings and walls. Stink bugs are most active during the fall although it is not uncommon to see them during any warm sunny period, throughout the winter, and again in the spring. Late summer and early fall are the ideal times to plan treatments for stink bugs as this is when they tend to come inside seeking shelter for the winter.
