Carpenter Ant

1) Considered the most common ant in the northern United States.

1. Size: Large – from ¼ to ¾ inches for a queen. Normally the largest ant in our area
2. Color: Black, brown, and black or sometimes red and black
3. Can cause significant damage over a time if not controlled

Worker carpenter ant

Pavement Ant

1. Usually found in structures built on a slab.
   1. Size: Small- from 1/10 to 1/8 inches
   2. Color: Brown to black

Odorous House Ant (a.k.a. coconut ant)

1. If crushed, the workers give off a rotten coconut odor
   1. Color: Dark brown to shiny black
   2. Size: small-medium 1/8 inch
